Big Brother big Sister Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Big Brother or Sister: Volunteer spends 4 hours a week mentoring a child from a single parent home. Children are between the ages of 7-15.

Couples Match: Same as a Big Brother or Big Sister match but done as a couple (generally matched to a boy).

Volunteer Board Member: Must be able to commit to a monthly Board meeting plus a once a month committee meeting.

Non-Board Member Committee Member: If you have expertise in PR/Recruitment, Fund Raising and Finance or social service background you may want to serve on a board committee.

School Based Mentoring Program:

  • A special program that links high school students with elementary children who can benefit from enrichment activities to supplement their schoolwork.

  • High School Mentors will meet with their assigned Little Brother or Sister for one hour and a half hours a week after school hours at the elementary school. Big Brothers and Sisters staff will provide ongoing training and support and serve as a liaison between mentor and school.

Volunteer Help With Major Fund-Raiser:

  • Bowl For Kids' Sake
  • Major Corporate sponsor
  • Lane Sponsor
  • Need teams to participate or individual bowlers
  • Volunteers to work the day of the event

Golf For Kids' Sake:

  • Corporate sponsorship
  • Partners to caddie for golfers
  • Individual golfers

Sponsor or Run an Activity for Waiting List Children:

  • Bowling Activity
  • Akron Aeros Activity
